This site was extracted from The Internet Archive's December 2010 capture on 2021-10-20. Java, php and other dynamic content have been removed. Links to dead pages (e.g. ordering instructions for The Slab Book, eBay auctions, and contact email generator) have been removed.

A bit of cleanup of the original html has occurred to bring it closer in-line with modern standards without making changes in substance. This includes using the same fonts as SampleSlabs.info, and adding Google analytics.

The site is still using tables and is NOT fluid/responsive, but with a defined viewport - it still doesn't look GREAT on mobile devices, but it's not horrible.

SGS

(Strategic Grading Service)

This is actually the first company to use the SGS initials. The newer company (not affiliated with this one) is called Star Grading Service and can be easily identified because of its white label slab compared to this gold label color. Strategic grading Service existed for a short time during the mid 1990’s, but then stopped for an unknown reason. They never had a website, and not much else is known about the company.

This type has the month and year below where the grade would go, with the date in the middle and the word “sample” below. The slab is smaller than even the old ANACS slab and the label has a flashy look to it with the foil color insert. The serial number on the back of the slab is the longest I have seen for any of the services.
